Today, I would like to share with you the books I've read in the month of May.
In total, I've read 16 books.
First, I've finished Eleven Minutes by Paulo Coelho. It's a literary fiction novel with spiritual aspects, like every book by Paulo Coelho. I've read this book ages ago, so it was practically my first read. It's definitely one of my favorite of his works, although it had some flaws and I think it isn't for everyone. But it really made me feel all the emotions and really made me think.
I gave it 4.75 Stars
Then I've read the first 10 books out of the Penguin Little Black Classic books. These were all small books around 55 pages each:
Mrs Rosie and the Priest by Giovanni Boccaccio a collection of short stories, which were really funny and entertaining, except the last story, which I didn't like at all. I gave it 4 Stars.
As kingfishers catch fire by Gerard Manley Hopkins a collection of poems and some journal entries. I enjoyed it, loved the use of language, some were a bit hard to understand and the journal entries were felt a little bit slow sometimes. 4.25 Stars
The Saga of Gunnlaug Serpent-tongue a easy read, but didn't enjoyed it much. 3 Stars
On Murder considered as One of the Fine Arts by Thomas de Quincey I enjoyed it more than I thought I would, still left me a bit uncomfortable. 4 Stars
Aphorism on Love and Hate by Friedrich Nietzsche some parts I adored and some parts I didn't liked at all! 3.5 Stars
Traffic by John Ruskin really, really enjoyed it a lot and made me interested in Ruskin's other work.
Wailing Ghosts by Pu Songling cute quick and easy read! 4.25 Stars
A Modest Proposal by Jonathan Swift a Satire and you need to read it as such, otherwise you won't enjoy it. 4.5 Stars
Three Tang Dynasty Poets definitely my favorite out of these 10! Completely feel in love with the magic of these poems! 5 Stars
On the Beach at Night alone by Walt Whitman hoped I would enjoy these poems more, they were too long and they didn't touch me. 3 Stars
Then I've Buddy read with my dear friend Erika over Snogging on Sunday Books Veronika decides to die by Paulo Coelho. It felt a little weird sometimes, but again, it gave me all the feels and it deals with an important topic! 4.75 Stars
Then I've finally read Alice's Adventures in Wonderland by Lewis Carroll and to be honest, I was a tiny bit disappointed. I still really, really enjoyed it a lot because of the amazing world building and the wonderful quotes, but it had its length and it was a bit too much nonsense sometimes. I prefer the Tim Burton movie.
After that I've read a German book and, unfortunately my least favorite book this month. Fragen an das Leben by Rolf Dobelli It's bascially a book filled with thought-provoking questions, loved the concept! But! It felt really cynical and insulting sometimes. 2.75 Stars
Then I've started a series by Michelle Zink. The first book The Prophecy of the Sisters was a perfect start to the series, suspense from the beginning, 5 Stars
The second book Guardian of the Gate felt a little slow at some parts and the love story was a little bit cheesy at the beginning, but I still loved it a lot and I'm excited to read the last book! 4.5 Stars
I added to my favorites shelf:
Eleven Minutes by Paulo Coelho
Veronika decides to die by Paulo Coelho
And when the last book is as good as the other two, I'm gonna add The Prophecy of the Sisters series too.
